Reel Movies for Real Needs - Marcus Theatres

The “Reel Movies for Real Needs” program creates a welcoming and accessible environment for special needs children by offering age-appropriate films with a lower sound volume and brighter lighting for families who may not feel comfortable attending regularly scheduled shows.

The environment is meant to be accommodating to all guests.  Lights are up, volume is down, and they welcome the families to get comfortable.  That may mean some extra movement and maybe a few more exits for guests than in a typical movie but it is a great and accepting community who visit for these shows.

Marcus Theaters hosts these special showings at the Village Point Cinema in Omaha and the Grand Cinema in Lincoln.  You can learn more at their web site HERE.

OMAHA: Consider becoming a Supporting Parent!

The Parent to Parent program of the Ollie Webb Center is in the process of recruiting parents
of children with special needs to become supporting parents (mentors) for new families.

As the mother or father of a child with developmental disabilities, you have unique parenting experiences. Through time, training, and trial and error, you have gained valuable skills. Use your knowledge to help another parent on the journey by becoming a mentor. Parent to Parent (P2P) programs link parents of children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities with experienced and informed veteran parents who understand the day-to-day experiences of raising a child with special needs. Parent to Parent Omaha is offered by Ollie Webb Center, Inc., a local nonprofit agency.
