Thank you to everyone who participated in the
2009 Autism Society of Nebraska Puzzle Walk!
What an amazing day for Autism in Nebraska! It was truly exciting to know that we had communities across the entire state rallying around our families living with autism! Thank you to the advocates who worked so hard to put together these amazing walks AND thank you to the community who rallied behind the cause!
There are so many of you to thank that it is impossible to name names. Truly the success of the walks came from so many individuals pitching in to help where they could. Still we would like to thank the representatives from the three locations who stepped up and worked with ASN to lead their community through this process. ASN would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to Meg Westby in Norfolk, Chrissy Bannon in Chadron, and Carol Salber in Omaha. You are all amazing advocates!
Again, there were so many people involved statewide who put their hearts and souls into making this event happen and we owe all of you a huge thank you! The autism community is truly amazing and ASN is so thrilled that our group is getting stronger every day. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to our entire community for rallying behind the cause!
Be sure and check out photos from the walks in our photo gallery!
Here is a short tribute of the
Omaha Walk prepared by our Omaha volunteer walk photographer, Tina Gunn. Tina volunteered her professional services and spent a chilly Saturday capturing the love and passion of our community. Thank You Tina!

**By the way, if you see a photo of your loved one and want a copy you can order prints from Gunn Photography. Her web site is www.gunnphotography.net. You can contact her directly at gunn2@cox.net or 402-932-7978.
The
Omaha ASN Support group would like to personally thank a local parent, Genisa Neal, for all of her hard work putting together awareness signs for the Omaha walk route. This was a labor of love for Genisa and I think that everyone will agree that the signs along the route were a fabulous touch. Thank you Genisa for helping spotlight our cause and our beautiful loved ones! The signs can be viewed

Lots of fun was had by all who attended the ASN Autism Puzzle Walk in
Norfolk. This was the first year it was held in Norfolk and it was a big success. Approximately 140 people attended the walk and helped bring awareness about autism to the Norfolk community. The weather was cold and windy so most activities were moved indoors. The children had loads of fun jumping in the moonbounce house, playing other games, and eating ice cream and popcorn. Approximately $14,000 was raised in Norfolk for the Autism Society of Nebraska and the Norfolk area Parent Support Group!
The
Chadron community also came out and rallied behind autism with their first Autism Puzzle Walk. Approximately 100 people attended the walk despite a couple inches of snow the night before! A highlight of the event was their band who learned how to play the Mark Leland song, “Missing Pieces” in less than two weeks! Thanks to everyone who came out and supported autism!
Unfortunately, we are low on photos for the Chadron and Norfolk walks. If anyone has walk photos they would be willing to share on the ASN web site please email them to autismsociety@autismnebraska.org or mail them to ASN, 1672 Van Dorn Street, Lincoln, NE 68502. We would love to have the photos to share with the rest of our communitiy! Thank you!
