OMAHA: Autism Society Family Pool Party and Outdoor Movie

Come join the Autism Society’s Omaha Support Network for a private swim party!   Fun for all ages!

Friday, August 24th   9pm—midnight

Join us as we celebrate the end of summer and the start of a new school year!  We will have the pool to ourselves as well as our private showing of Mr. Poppers Penguins!  Download a flyer HERE and please help us spread the word!

The pool is heated and lifeguards will be on duty.  However, your safety is important to us so please be prepared to provide proper supervision for each of your children.  Feel free to bring extra adults to help chaperone your family.

Be sure and bring lawn chairs and a blanket to stretch out under the stars for our movie!

All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

OMAHA: Middle School Outing to the Movies

Most all middle school kids love going to the movies with friends, right? Why should it be different just because a child has autism?  Join us at the movies on August 11th! While the movie is open to anyone needing a sensory friendly movie going experience, kids in 5th to 9th grade can sit together and meet each other. This will be the first of many events planned this year specifically for this age group!

OMAHA: ASD Teen Club

Upcoming events for TEENS on the Autism Spectrum:

A teen support group meets the first Monday of the month at Pump It Up at 6:30pm.  Come hang out with other teens, while your parents hang out with other parents.  Join the fun with games, creative arts, playing in the bounce rooms or hanging out with friends.

July 21, 2012 – Fishing at Walnut Creek.  6:30pm.  Fishing poles and bait will be provided.  Bring your own water bottle and bug spray.

August 24, 2012 – Swim party and movie.  9pm – midnight.  Maple Village Country Club located at 3645 Maplewood Blvd

OMAHA: Autism Night and Resource Fair at the Omaha Children’s Museum

The Omaha Children’s Museum has created a special evening for children with autism and their families. Come enjoy the museum and visit with local business who will be in attendance to share their resources.

NORTH PLATTE: Pool party and Outdoor Movie

Friday, July 13th

Bring your whole family to swim in the Cody Park Pool from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.  Parental supervision is required.  Admission paid by the Autism Society’s North Platte Support Group.

Join us for yard games and snack in the park from 8:00pm to dusk and an outdoor showing of the movie SECONDHAND LIONS.

OMAHA: Day on the Water sponsored by Ollie Webb

Join the Ollie Webb Center and Missouri River Valley Paddlers on Saturday, July 28, for some fun on the water at Lake Cunningham.  On this afternoon, those with developmental disabilities will be given an opportunity to participate in kayaking, canoeing, and receive onsite safety instruction courtesy of the National Coast Guard.

This event runs from noon to 4:00pm on Lake Cunningham.  Cost is free.  Ice cream and water will be provided, but feel free to supply your ownfood and beverage according to dietary needs or restrictions – you are welcome to bring picnic lunches for these event.
