KEARNEY: KidZone Respite Program
Event by other community organization. 5 September 2012 @ 12:47 pm.During the 1st Thursday of every month from 6-8 pm children ages 2-12 with physical and developmental delays/disabilities and their siblings ages 2-10 are invited to a special time of discovery, creativity, and wonder at Kidzone Kearney Area Children’s Museum.
KidZone respite gives children free play time in the museum, with minimum structure, and is supervised by Arc staff members and trained volunteers. Parents of registered children do not have to stay during this time. However, if your child does not do well in a free play environment, then you may want to consider staying with your child to help them acclimate, or send staff or an older sibling to help your child adjust. Also, if your child is not potty trained, be sure to bring extra pull ups or a change of clothes in case of accidents.
These respite times are made available through a grant from the Nebraska Respite Network.
Preregistration is required and only the first 25 children will be allowed. After the first 25 spots have been filled we will not accept any more registrations, but we can place your family on a wait list in case there are future cancelations.
Note: Registration for September is full but there is still room on the waiting list. As a courtesy, please only register your child for months that you know your child will be able to attend. If you are unable to attend a month you are registered please call 237-4343 as soon as possible to let us know so another family can be given the opportunity to attend. Registration forms for Oct.-Dec. will be sent out mid-September. To be put on the mailing list call the Arc office at 237-4343 or email dmcduffee@live.com.
