Autism Training Series
The Nebraska Parent Training Workshop is an intensive 10-week workshop series designed to educate, provide training and offer support to parents or caregivers of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Workshops will be held at North Platte Community College—South Campus in room 122 each Wednesday from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. The college is located at 601 W. State Farm Road in North Platte.
Training topics will include:
03/25/09 - Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders
04/01/09 - Treatment Approaches: Introduction to Evidenced Based Practices
04/08/09- Components of Effective Treatment Programs
04/15/09 - Reinforcement
04/22/09 – Discrete Trial Training
04/29/09 – Teaching in the Natural Environment
05/06/09 – Managing Problem Behaviors
05/13/09 – Working with Professionals & Accessing Additional Services
05/20/09 – TBA (based upon interest of the group)
05/27/09 – Social Skill Instruction
The workshop is open to parents, caregivers and professionals interested in receiving information on selected training topics. There is NO fee to participate in the workshop. Child care will be provided by volunteers and directed by a staff with experience working and interacting with children with autism.
In order to attend, participants must register by emailing nebraskaparenttraining@yahoo.com by 03/21/09. Please provide name, a phone number, and number of children needing daycare services.
